Leisure 23 SL ...... “the one that feels like a 25 footer” according to the original sales brochure........ very roomy boat for a 23 footer, standing headroom in main saloon (1.79m or 5’ 10½”) which is unusual on a boat of this size. Two owners from new. Original owner bought her at the London boat show where she was a display boat. The first cruising yacht to be registered on Kielder Water. Bought by the present owner in 1999. Many improvements introduced since then.

Johnson 9.9HP 2-stroke Petrol Outboard. New in 2002. Factory built as a short shaft model. 12v DC generator fitted by dealer.
Long shaft extension kit fitted by owner. Three-bladed propeller. Manual recoil starter. Fwd/Neutral/Rev gearshift on front. Twist grip throttle. Kill Switch with two cords. Throttle and gearshift remote control in cockpit.
Electrical
Single 120AH deep cycle 12V battery (2003) charged by the engine or by shore-power battery charger.
Shore power to 13A mains socket in saloon and to battery charger mounted in cockpit locker, both protected by consumer unit (fuse board) with RCD (residual current device). Two reels of shore power cable, fitted with IEC 16A 3-pin connectors.
12V fluorescent lighting (2000) - 2 in main cabin, 1 in forward cabin.
12V utility socket in saloon with “cigarette lighter” type accessory socket adapter.
Rather tatty domestic type FM/AM radio/cassette player, with DC to DC converter to run it from ship’s battery.

Cabin details
The forward cabin has a double berth, the saloon has a double dinette berth (table drops down) and a quarter berth.

The galley is midships to port.
The head is in the forward cabin. It is fitted for a marine WC (skin fittings, sea cocks and pipes) but a Porta-Potti 365 (1999) is installed.
The forward cabin has a hanging locker.
For added comfort the quarter berth and the forward cabin berths additionally have bed slats. The dinette berth uses thicker mattresses and so does not have slats.
All interior upholstery was professionally re-covered in 2000.
Carpets (2009) and curtains (2000) are included.
Galley
The galley is built from a 1-piece GRP moulding with one teak locker to the side and teak hatches to the lockers below. It has a “Lytham Galaxy” two burner gas cooker with grill, fitted in single gimbal mount, with fiddle rails and pan holders.
There is a stainless steel sink with tap-operated electric water pump (2000) with disposable type activated charcoal filter (renewed each season) for cold water supply. Stainless steel sink drains overboard through skin fitting with sea cock.
Some storage lockers are below water line, so the beer and the wine stay cool.
Cutlery drawer with 4 place settings of stainless steel cutlery and cooking implements.
4 place settings of melamine crockery plus a set of pans. Grill pan.
For additional workspace while cooking, there is a removable work surface to the left of the sink, above the quarter berth.
Sails and Spars
Aluminium mast and boom with silver anodising. Rope kicking strap with 3:1 advantage. Boom down haul with 3:1 advantage.
165 sq.ft. Genoa with roller furling and sacrificial strip cover. Original sail, in good condition. New sacrificial strip cover in 2007.
125 sq.ft part-battened mainsail with slab reefing. Original sail, in good condition. New sail cover in 2005.
Windex at mast head.
Deck Equipment
CQR Anchor in well with 7.5m chain and 14m warp. Stainless steel pulpit, pushpit, stanchions and guard wires. New guard wires in 2005.
Mooring painter and safety chain, both with pick up buoys, for swing mooring. Painter has snubber and anti-chaff polythene tubes.
Two Lewmar 6 primary winches on coamings. Standing rigging renewed 2004. Halyards renewed 2004.
Winch handle with stowage base in cockpit. Removable bilge pump lever with stowage bracket in cockpit. Sprayhood (2006).
Boarding ladder. Winter washboard. 6 side fenders plus bow fender. Dock lines.

Tiller, Engine, Water tank, in fact just about all removable equipment, always removed and stored at home in the winter.
Price includes 4-wheel close-coupled twin-axle road trailer. Origin and year unknown. Mild steel welded fabrication, not galvanised. Professionally shot-blasted and painted (red oxide primer) in 2000. Since then, re-painted every two years by owner. Last painted 2009. Hubs greased every two or three years (last in 2007). New brake cables in 2005. Needs new brake shoes. Trailer frame professionally tested in 2005 – wall thickness tested by ultrasound and welds tested by magnetic
particle examination. No significant defects in the main frame. Guide posts and keel guides added in 2000, to simplify haulout.
